POLICE & FIRE COMMISSION

Five member citizen board with each member serving a five year term

The Police and Fire Commission is established pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 62.13(1). The Police and Fire Commission appoints both the Chief of Police and the Fire Chief. It also deals with personnel issues of the Police and Fire Departments, but is does not have an administrative/management role in either department.

PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE

Three member standing committee of the Village Board appointed by the Village President.

The Public Safety Committee is a standing committee of the Village Board that handles matters relating to emergency medical services, code enforcement, and health/safety issues. Additionally, the committee serves in an advisory capacity with respect to matters concerning police and fire operations, except where such matters are the direct responsibility of the Police and Fire Commission.
